How does the evaluation of the videos work?

Click on the pink stars positioned underneath the videos. The more stars you click on, the higher your evaluation. So that this also works properly, please only evaluate the videos after they have been completely loaded. If you refresh the page you can evaluate the videos again.

The video will not play. What might cause this?

The videos on DFG Science TV are played back with the Adobe Flash Player. For good quality reproduction the latest version of Adobe Flash Player should be installed. If you have not done this yet, you can start the automatic installation of the player by clicking on a video. To do this you need to turn off the pop-up blocker, as otherwise this prevents the installation from working.
The latest version of the Adobe Flash Player can bedownloaded here.

The video playback keeps stopping and then restarting. Why?

So that a video can be played back continuously, a broadband internet connection with a speed of at least 700 Kbit per second is required. A less powerful connection, a low download speed or unstable internet connection can cause the playback to stop and start. In this case you should first download the complete video and only start it then.

Why is the video not completely downloaded or why does it end too soon?

If the buffering process of the video is interrupted, an incomplete copy of the video is left in the browser's cache, which then prevents downloading of the whole video file. If this happens you should empty the browser's cache and download the video again.
Information on how to delete the cache in the various browsers can be found here.
If this does not eliminate the problem, the stability of the internet connection should be checked.

The video should appear enlarged in its own window. How can that be set?

Click on the icon to the left of the loudspeaker control at the bottom right in the player bar, or on the magnifying glass or the "enlarge" link below the player.  To quit full screen mode again, please press the ESC key. In Internet Explorer 6.0 the video picture can only be changed using the magnifying glass or the "enlarge" link.

Why is there no sound on the video playback?

The sound playback of the videos and trailer can in principle be adjusted using the loudspeaker symbol. To make the video sound audible,
  • adjust the speakers,
  • check whether your computer is set up for audio playback,
  • and check the volume on the loudspeaker control at the bottom right of the video player.
The volume of your standard audio and video software such as Real Player or Windows Media Player should also be set, since these also affect the playback volume of your computer.

If you do not have a sound card, no sound can be reproduced.
